In Praise of Procrastination

I'm acutely aware of the lack of content/punctuality in my recent posts, but even with a fresh Monday in front of me, I don't really feel like blogging. Fortunately, today I found an article on how the connotations of the word procrastination have changed over time, and why procrastination may be a good thing.

I don't completely believe it, but I believe it just enough to put off writing a real blog post till tomorrow.

  1. I do think there's a valid point there ... in creative work, certainly, I find I sometimes have to step back from a task and let my subconscious chew on it while my conscious mind is focused on some mundane task. It's a productive procrastination.

Then again ... playing online when I should be drawing is a different matter entirely ...

    ...gotta go...

  2. I agree--there's a sort of "play" for the mind that isn't really wasted time, even if you can't think of a direct goal you're meeting.

And writing is one of those things (for me anyway) that requires large amounts of creative "input" before I can produce worthwhile "output."
